We aren't exactly in the market for a house quite yet, but we picked up a magazine of houses within the Wichita area last weekend when we were out and about and I was just thumbing through it toady. I like our apartment, but good god I can't wait to move into a house. It is a ton of work, there is no doubt about that, but it solidifies our lives. Apartments just seem temporary. Not like college because the apartments we stayed in during college were just absolute dumps compared to this one. Apartments are for college kids, just out of college kids, and old retired people...we are starting to transition into our real lives as adults (scary seeing as how I act sometimes).
I talked to my parents a couple of days ago and my dad mentioned that Jake is getting pretty bad. He is starting to lose his sight and has pretty much gone deaf. They took him to the vet a couple of weeks ago and they told them that he was in the early stages of kidney failure. So it doesn't seem like he'll be around too much longer. It is sad, we have had him for such a long time. So long, in fact that I can't remember when we got him. I think I was in fifth or sixth grade. So about thirteen years, give or take a year. It's part of life...that is the only thing you can really say. Nothing can be done to prevent it.
