The price of gas in connection to the spending of shells

'What's the Frequency Kenneth?' by R.E.M

There was an article on yahoo (always reliable the internet is) about how ships firing on other ships is going to raise the price of gas......again.

These weren't any old ships, these were ships under contract of the US department of defense.  And they were firing on ships from Iran in the Persian Gulf.  There are other factors into the raising prices of gas.  Pipeline attacks in Africa, and possible refinery strikes in Scotland (to name some major factors) and there is a little bit of occupation taking place in Iraq (which is a small factor, I believe.  Or not).  At any rate, the people you need to be upset with because it takes one hundred dollars to fill up your H2 (fuH2, again) is yourself for buying that car and the government for fighting a war that doesn't need to be fought.  Yes, its a war for oil and dude we are taking it right on the chin.  However, the government doesn't feel it, we do.  Every other friday, we get paid and how much of that goes to gas tanks?

My thoughts on this subject is that I just ignore it all together.  I know, horrible me.  I could give a shit less if we are 'winning the war on terror' or not...which we aren't.  I can't change the fact that it costs about 3.50 a gallon.  It's just one of those things that is out of our hands and that is how it should be looked upon.  Write your senator, write your congressman (or congresswoman) about it.  They'll look at it, and throw it away.  Let's be honest.

The one thing that I think will change the price of gas is the withdrawal of troops from the middle east.  Personal opinion, that's all.  And it can't be this 'let's train an Iraqi army to sustain a democracy' bullshit that they keep talking about.  Nixon's Vietnamization thinks that's a joke.  Sure we can train Iraqi troops but we'd pull out and they'd get rolled over and we'd say, well shucks we tried.  And we would feel better about it.  But the oppressive governmental body of a foreign country would no longer be there.  That would in turn, I think, lower the price of a barrel of oil.  I'm not saying that it'll go back down to a buck twenty five, but I think that it could get back down to three bucks.  Which, sadly, seems reasonable.

I'm not big into political activities for one side or the other, these are just my thoughts.  and to quote my dad, 'If it doesn't work, piss on you.'

I love my dad.

One and done

Currently listening to Lose Yourself by eminem.  Yeah, I don't know either...I just like this song.

So after the ncaa basketball tournament was over, there was the yearly exodus from the college ranks to the NBA.  However, the major people heading off to make big bank were not seniors or juniors.  The big names were freshmen.  Derrick Rose, Michael Beasley, OJ Mayo, and Kevin Love are the biggest names going into the draft who were all underclassmen this year.  Personally, I think that two of the four (Beasley and Love) are NBA ready (but what do I know).  The other two are really good, and could get better playing another year or two in college.

The only reason that they went to college was because of the 'one and done' rule.  Basically, the NBA was sick and tired of these high school kids skipping college and going right to the bank with their huge checks that they don't really deserve.  Granted, players like Kevin Garrnet, Kobe Bryant, and Lebron James (to name a few) had no issues making the transition to the NBA, they are all gifted players.  However, you also have the teens that think they are good enough, and the media is partly to blame.  You get EPSN playing high school (yes, high school) games on prime time televison because of one player.  All the analysts talk about how one said player is so good and how they are a man among boys.  That's because they are bigger amongst younger players.  However, if you match an eighteen or nineteen year old against a twenty four or twenty five year old, they're going to get hosed...big time.  It'll just happen.

So why not make them all go to school for two or even three years.  You know, give them an education.  They are going to need to do something after they're playing days are up.  Any person that wants to go from high school to a professional sport may say that they want to take their game to the next level, or they don't have anything left to prove at whatever level they are playing at, are so full of shit it isn't funny.

They just want to make bank and spend their money on some fucked up suburban or hummer (fuH2).  I think that a two year minimum of college (or semi-professional level) experience should be required.

PBR: nector of the gods, champagne for the poor

I'm running through my punk/ska playlist on the ipod...Save Ferris, Less than Jake, Reel Big Fish, The Clash, and the like...good times. Mostly the 'skateboarding is not a crime' punk. Currently: Superspy (Save Ferris)

Maybe it is because of the nice weather outside, maybe because I'm in a good mood because I don't have to open this weekend, I'm not entirely sure; but I had an urge to buy beer today. And not just normal beer, but Pabst Blue Ribbon. Yes, PABST BLUE RIBBON. PBR, my cheap love. It's like a five cent whore...everyone has had it at least once, and some of us fell in love. The most amazing part is that it is about fifteen dollars for a two four. I've bought bottles, single bottles, of alcohol that were more than three times as expensive. It's not the price that is important, it's the product. I've loved this beer since the first time I drank it a few years ago. I have also turned others to the PBR side of the 'beer force' (yeah, that was a Star Wars joke). It's beer, nothing special.

Plus you can get fucked up for real cheap, which is what everyone should want.

take a drink from a dirty thermos

I'm on a big Rage kick right now. Vietnow is playing at the moment.

I decided, and I don't know why, not to trim my beard until the red wings lose in the playoffs or they win the Stanley Cup. Because I can I guess. Its been six years since my sister called me from the bathroom of a suite at the Joe seconds after they won the last time. This has been a long time coming, and hopefully they can pull through.

Much to the chagrin of A, I'm going to stand by this in the hopes that it will somehow help. Inasmuch as rally caps help out baseball teams (allegedly), playoff beards help hockey teams. If you are any kind of true hockey fan, you also should grow a playoff beard in support of your team.

Unless you are an Avs fan, in which case fuck off.

work issues

Nobody's Fault But Mine by Zeppelin. mmmm....tasty rock from the best band EVER. The only argument I will hear is an argument for the Beatles, who are a close second.

I have hit a wall this week.Work has been just plain sucking. People have been getting on my nerves left and right, which leads to having bad days. I just feel like throttling some people, but I will deal. The week is almost done, then off for the weekend..yeah weekend.

In conclusion:

-Work sucks
-I'll deal

Peace.

Building my case to take down the radio

Old school punk in the form of The Clash singing London Calling is playing...I want to wear safety pins in my clothes and not shower for a week now.

As A and I were driving home last night I wanted to throw my radio out the window. The main reason why I really can't stand listening to the radio is all the commercials. I understand having them, just like I understand having commercials on the television. But they just go on and on. As one ad comes on, you turn the station only to find the next station on a commercial break, and the next one, and the next station is playing country music (so it gets turned quickly. I do enjoy some country music, but I have to be in the right mood for it, which isn't too often these days). It just irritates me. I did have Evil Empire in the cd player, but A wasn't in the mood to rage...whatever. There is never a time when you shouldn't be in the mood to rage (against the machine).

So there is the first point as to why the radio sucks. Point two: Early morning talk shows. I'm not talking about NPR or the right wing lunatics (who are AWESOME!). I'm talking about the Bob and Tom type shows. I don't see the appeal. I just want to slap them through the airwaves. There is a local show like that and I walk into work every morning and it is on the overhead system while the overnight team listens to it. I just can't see why anyone would want to listen to it. Its as if to frat boys and a few friends somehow got a radio show and the masses thought it was a good time. Wake up people. There are better things on the radio. Find npr and learn what is wrong with the world or the economy. Boring? Yes. But educational. And calming, so you won't want to run someone off the highway just because they cut you off.

So as we were pulling on to the highway last night, I asked her to put abbey road into the cd player. It made it better.

remembering

I'm being crooned to by George Strait singing rockin' in the arms of your memory.

I finally remembered what I forgot about the other day. Someone at work over the weekend made reference to a song that I had never heard of. And it wasn't some old song from the sixties or seventies, apparently it came out recently. However, I don't listen to a ton of radio (and by 'I don't listen to a tone of radio, I mean hardly ever) so I didn't quite get it. It was explained to me later at break. They made reference to the song 'Soulja Boy'(which I first thought was soldier boy....it makes sense. I just kind of smiled and nodded. The point is that I try to disconnect myself from the popular music mainly because it just plain sucks balls. big balls. I'm talkin' HUGE balls. The two most recent albums that I bought were the White Stripes and Robert Plant & Allison Krauss. I do have current songs on my ipod and the whatnot, but I just prefer to listen to music by people who, you know, play their own instruments or write their own songs.

They're called musicians.
